Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and self driven Trainee Sensor Installation Technician.Salary: £22,700-£25,000. Reporting to Zaheer Allarakhia, Site Team Lead.Location: Milton Keynes, with options for flexible working.
About VivaCity At VivaCity, our goal is to make cities smarter. Our work makes traffic lights more intelligent, reducing congestion; spots dangerous manoeuvres on the road, improving safety; and gathers real-time data to support autonomous vehicles & traffic management alike. To achieve this, we have designed and developed cutting-edge products using machine learning, including sensors with on-board video analytics capabilities, and city-wide control and optimisation algorithms. We are currently rolling out thousands of sensors across the UK, Europe and beyond, and seeking a Trainee Sensor Installation Technician to join our Manufacturing function. This is a full-time, permanent role that will provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your existing experience and develop further skills.
About the role:The role requires both planning and communication skills, combined with technical knowledge to install and maintain our sensors at locations across the UK. All technicians have the opportunity to learn how to build our sensors in our workshop facility. You will work alongside our existing team, who will guide you through a series of training stages, plus external training courses. Full PPE and all equipment is provided.
Due to the nature of this work, you will often be required to work odd shift patterns and stay away from home at hotels (during weekdays only). We pay overtime for extra hours or night working, and have a flexible approach to working hours with appropriate time to re-adjust between shifts.
You will need to be comfortable working outdoors in all weather throughout the year, and working at height using Mobile Elevating Work Platforms or Ladders for this role.
About you:You have a strong desire to work with technology, with a keen interest in Electrical or Mechanical Installation and Maintenance. Previous experience is not required, if you are self-driven and have the required aptitude, we will help you to succeed within our team!
Your technical skills, coupled with your self-motivation, flexibility and adaptability will be key to this role. You will be integral to the successful delivery of our intelligent sensors. Utilising your mechanical and electrical skills, you will be working on multiple sites per day, installing, aligning and commissioning sensors.

We look forward to hearing from you!What you'll be doing: Learn about our award-winning technology and analytics, including how our sensors help to deliver data for our clients.Carry out desk reviews of sites, contribute to sensor installation planning and liaise with our Customer Success colleagues.Support the installation and maintenance of Vivacity sensors, and learn how do this with guided training using approved processes.Once trained, work at height utilising ladders or powered access equipment.Complete routine electronic paperwork created for Health and Safety, sensor installation, and fleet vehicle checks.Be able and willing to work at installation sites in all weather.Complete mandatory training requirements for Health & Safety, Working at Height, Traffic Management and Electrical SafetyWhat we're looking for: A keen interest in technology, manufacturing and installation of IoT devices.Excellent teamworking skills, with the ability to work well with a wide range of people.Experience in working with hand and power tools, even as a hobbyist. A co-operative, helpful and willing attitude, with the willingness to use your own initiative.A willingness to change and adapt, learn new activities, and pick up new tasks confidently and easily.
