We are looking for a Strategic Finance Business Partner to take the lead for Finance across our Licensing and/or Energy Supply businesses.

You will lead financial performance management, planning & analysis and bring alive insight around the actual and expected performance of energy supply businesses. You'll support and guide finance professionals in the teams, where they exist and be actively involved in acquisitions of licensing customer or supply business entities as opportunities arise.What you'll do Identify and manage economic trade-offs across the business (growth, returns, cash), including evaluating impact of new lines of business (products, services) and other investments made by Octopus Energy GroupWork closely with the Licensing Financial Controller and Services finance resources to project cash and short to medium-term funding requirementsPrepare board packs and other strategic meeting material for Octopus Energy GroupWork on financial planning and analysis across Group, Licensing, Energy & Customer Services segments of a very complex business - owning, developing and validating the both near-term and long-term (5+ year) business models and other key business toolsProvision of financial forecasts for the business at month end and some elements of month end reporting and analysis including strategic overlayLead budget preparationDevelop and update Group consolidated financial model and strategic messaging on Group’s growth, profitability and liquiditySupport group/entity-specific debt and equity funding conversations and other deals that affect capital structure / allocation and financial riskAd hoc support to the strategy team to evaluate retail, software and/or energy services M&A transactions as a flexible resourceWhat you'll needKnowledge of the Electricity and Gas supply markets or industries where there is a significant commodity input would be an advantage but not essentialThe same goes for software licensing and other energy transition industries (electric vehicles, smart assets in the home, hardware manufacturing, power generation)Experience in building Excel-based financial models and Powerpoint-based executive packsAn understanding in business finance and accounting but not necessarily ACA or CIMA qualified if you have the right experiencePrevious experience in investment banking, consulting or corporate finance - including the preparation of board/steerco-level materials, due diligence for M&A transactions - would be an advantage but not essentialLanguage skills (French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian) would be an advantage but not essentialHighly numerate, ability to handle multidimensional concepts and a fast pace – this is very importantWhy else you'll love it hereWondering what the salary for this role is?
