Senior Software Engineer - Smart Junctions at Vivacity

We’re looking for an experienced engineer with a passion for building reliable software, services, and infrastructure. Salary: £65,000-£80,000. Reporting to: Andrew Zhao, Smart Junctions Production Team Lead. Location: Old Street, with flexible working and WfH.

About the roleThe Smart Junctions Production team is a full-stack production engineering team building the robust infrastructure, configuration systems, and user interfaces which enable our world-leading AI traffic control systems to be ready for the real world.You will be working with modern languages including TypeScript and Go, and building on top of cutting-edge infrastructure such as Kubernetes, Kafka, and Prometheus/Cortex. Day-to-day tasks will include participating in extensive code reviews, pair programming, and contributing towards comprehensive testing. You will also have the opportunity to take ownership of products and shape their future.

About youYou are an experienced full-stack software engineer with strong technical and teamwork skills. You are familiar with modern software development methodologies and comfortable working in an agile environment.Requirements for the role:Enjoys learning and picking up new technologies, frameworks and skillsLikes brainstorming and collaboratively solving open problemsExperience working with full-stack systems: React, TypeScript, Node.JS, PostgreSQLExperience working with Go, ProtobufExperience with real-time data engineering systems such as Prometheus, Kafka and GrafanaExperience with modern infrastructure systems such as Terraform, Kubernetes and DockerExperience in test driven development and familiar with common DevOps tools and CI/CD processesThe following would further strengthen your application Enjoys mentoring and developing othersExperience working in an Agile software teamExperience working with PythonExperience with cloud computing platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)You don't need to have done all of these things before, but to excel in this role you will need to be keen to learn and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
