We care that climate change and waste are ruining the planet. So we did something about it.

First we joined the circular economy to remanufacture office furniture, saving clients money while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste by 80%.

Recognising that remanufacturing is only dealing with some of society’s waste, we then created exciting furniture designs using materials like post-consumer waste plastic.

Creating UK jobs did not feel like enough, so we pushed for more social value. In 2016 we did our first project (Public Health Wales Cardiff) with a team of eight local long-term unemployed with disabilities. They did a great job, with the project winning seven national and international awards. We have continued this approach on projects longer than 3 months in duration (to provide a meaningful period of work) in regional areas around Great Britain.

In 2021 we began our delivery and installation collaboration with Connection Crew, which employs former homeless individuals.

Our approach has generated wonderful support, for which we are very grateful. We rely on our supporters to spread the word about our sustainable approach. Thank you.

Job Description

Rype Office is a rapidly growing and award-winning Circular Economy office furniture company servicing all of Britain. The carbon emission reductions, cost savings and social value of our furniture is driving demand from some of the world’s largest companies.

We are seeking a full-time Senior Project Manager to deliver client projects with 80% smaller carbon footprints and substantial waste savings without compromising on aesthetics.

Location:

You will spend most days on client sites across England, Wales and occasionally Scotland. When not on site, you will be based at Rype Office’s premises in west London or High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

Remuneration:

Competitive and dependent on experience.

Rype Office’s projects range in size from one-day furniture installations to multi-month fit-out projects. With your experience, you will be leading the largest and most complex of these and assisting to develop the skills of our other Project Managers.

Responsibilities & tasks

Specific responsibilities include:

• Ensuring that project requirements are clearly defined, agreed and communicated
• Liaising with client Project Managers, designers, clients, subcontractors, our remanufacturing team, external suppliers, client project managers and other trades on site
• Work planning, incorporating production, logistics and installation, to meet client timeframes
• Arranging labour, deliveries, sub-contractors, PPE, tools and equipment for site
• Quality checking including managing the snagging process on projects
• Identifying and solving potential future problems
• Progress and budget tracking; preparing site progress reports
• Contract management
• Leading site meetings
• On-site First Aid (training can be provided on this)
• Proposal coordination
• Constantly reinforcing a Health & Safety culture, striving for an accident-free site
• Suggesting improvements to our processes, consistent with our commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability

Ideal candidate

The successful candidate will be:

• Self-motivated and well-organised, able to manage multiple projects at different stages at the same time.
• Caring and respectful of the environment.
• Representing the company at client sites, therefore a high standard of customer service and professional communication is expected.
• Focused on quality & have an eye for detail.
• A strong problem solver
• Able to work calmly under pressure

Skills & qualifications

Essential skills, experience and qualifications:

• PRINCE2 or similar project management qualifications
• At least 8 years of project management experience
• At least 3 years of experience delivering furniture installation projects on client sites
• Experience in supervising teams
• Experience working with tools, to train others if needed
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Effective communication (both oral and written) skills with demonstrated ability to present ideas
• Able to work varied hours, which may include occasional work out-of-hours, weekends or away for the working week on a client site
• Full clean UK Driving License
• Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable skills, experience and qualifications (but not essential):

• First Aid training
• Engineering qualifications or a relevant trade qualification
