About the role

Compliance Assurance provides independent assurance services to assist in the timely identification, evaluation and mitigation of regulatory and financial crime risks. The team is responsible for testing the effectiveness of the management of financial crime risks and compliance-related activities and assessing whether the business controls are operating in line with relevant laws, regulations, principles and group standards, including whether the Compliance sub-functions such as Compliance Advisory (LoD2) are designed appropriately and operating optimally

The vision is to deliver innovative, high quality, independent assurance services; working with key stakeholders across the organisation, furthering our risk management as well as social, corporate, and regulatory responsibilities. 

As a member of the ZEPZ organisation you will be part of the Compliance Assurance team covering  both WorldRemit and Sendwave. As  a Senior Analyst you will initially be responsible for helping the Manager of Compliance Assurance build out and embed the global Compliance Assurance function / framework.  Once up and running, you will then work as part of the Compliance Assurance team carrying out assurance reviews (as per the annual plan) and subsequent issue management.

Reporting to the Manager, Compliance Assurance, you will:

Part of a small team, you will execute the annual Compliance Assurance plan. Contribute to deliver high quality independent reviews and ad-hoc QA of key Compliance Risks, participating in the planning, fieldwork and execution of each review. 

Be able to manage concurrent reviews which may be local or multi-jurisdictional

Support the Manager of Compliance Assurance in further building out the Compliance Assurance function, including helping to develop and implement an Assurance framework, in the form of methodology documents as well as relevant Assurance templates

Be able to manipulate large data sets as well as carry out manual sampling of key 1st and 2nd Line of Defence activities

With the support of our Data & Analytics team help design automated queries and dashboards to drive more frequent testing and informative insights

Engaging and advising the relevant stakeholders in addition to building and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders within all Lines of Defence

Support with Issue Management using the relevant internal systems, ensure findings are categorised correctly and updated as required with relevant Issue and Action owners

Continually identify ways to enhance, automate and improve the Compliance Assurance processes and procedures.

As and when relevant support the Manager of Compliance Assurance in training more junior members of the team and acting as a point of quality control as the function grows

Work with the Manager of Compliance Assurance to address any Issues/Actions that arise out of MI, Reporting, Audits etc

Be the contact point for any internal/external 

Adhere to and comply with all applicable laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Anti-Money Laundering, as well as adhering to company policies and procedures

What we’re looking for from you

Leadership

Happy to play a proactive role with the day-to-day Compliance Assurance processes when required.

Team-player able to multitask, and establish cooperative and collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders across the business

Innovative approach to identifying issues in, and improving, processes

Technical

Strong experience working within a FinTech, traditional financial institution, or regulatory body

Strong experience in assurance or internal/external audit, focusing on the Risk and Compliance domains

Experience in interrogating large data sets to identify actionable insights

Significant knowledge of UK, EU and international AML/CTF legislation

Strong knowledge of financial crime control frameworks and regulatory standards

Demonstrable experience of influencing stakeholders and senior stakeholders

Proven strong written and verbal communication skills

Prior experience in drafting procedures and guidelines is an added bonus.
