The Production Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Devault, PA as the Sanitation Supervisor.
The Sanitation Supervisor plans and directs all activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of sanitation standards for production processes and equipment. This position will provide supervision to the sanitation team (primarily 3rd shift) and/or janitorial team, along with training, maintaining documentation, strategy development, and ensuring standards and processes are followed. TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate with production, maintenance, and master sanitation schedule to provide training and leadership to production personnel during sanitation windows Develop and drive sanitation strategies by identifying long-term goals, leveraging resources, and delivering objectives through cross-functional alignmentInitiate and execute cleaning verification and validation programs to prove effectiveness of the sanitation program not limited to environmental monitoring, ATP, and micro dataMonitor and manage sanitation costs, contract services, and supply ordering such as, chemicals and PPEsDevelop and maintain the Master Sanitation ScheduleOversees root cause sanitation investigations and collaborates on corrective and preventive actionsProactively utilize process metrics and experience to prevent problems that could affect product quality and safetyRecommend improvements and provide suggestions to sanitation standards and work processes in areas of equipment, ventilation, and plant layoutCompile reports regarding inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to correct deficienciesWork with the Quality and Production Leadership to develop procedures and techniques for verifying and validating the effectiveness of sanitationContinuously evaluate sanitary conditions of the facility and production equipmentConduct regularly scheduled internal and external audits on the facility, documentation, and proceduresEnsure that all aspects of sanitation within the plant and equipment comply within company and government standardsExperience and knowledge on in performing chemical titrationsMonitor wastewater discharges for permit requirementsDevelop and implement SSOPs for standardization on sanitation practicesPerform Post-Op and Pre-Op inspectionsExperience with chemicals and sanitation equipmentAdhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely mannerSupervisory DutiesLead and supervise employees, delegate processes and procedures within the plant area settingProvide mentorship and training to functional team membersAccountable for developing talent through on-going performance feedback and career management coachingQUALIFICATIONSEducation, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferredMinimum 5 years proven experience in Quality, Sanitation, or similar role, with at least 3 years being in a leadership role2-5 years’ experience in a food and/or beverage manufacturing environmentKnowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, MSDS, 5S, RCA, GMP, FDA, SSOP’s, GFSI BRC, and chemical safetyAbility to understand and comply with government regulationsMust have the ability to quantitatively review technical procedures and representative regulationsOther qualifications:Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus, not a requirementStrong PC skills, including MS office programsExcellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and organizational skillsThe employee must have the ability to quantitatively review technical procedures and representative regulations. In addition, must be capable of writing detailed reports and general day-to-day oversight and related correspondenceThe ability to effectively present information to groups and respond to questions from peers, supervisors, and managers is essentialAbility to multi-task and set priorities within SanitationFlexibility to work any/all shifts to support a high growth work environment.WORK ENVIRONMENTWarehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas. The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasksPosition located in a mix of production and office environments and requires a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.This position will be required to visit the production floor, refrigerated and frozen storage, and warehouses.Work flexible shifts as required.Understand that overtime and occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will be required based on company needs.Travel may be requiredThe starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $75,000 and 85,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
