The Mozilla Foundation is seeking a People Partner to join its People & Culture Team and provide strategic and day-to-day HR support to three Mozilla Foundation subsidiaries: MZLA Technologies, Mozilla Ventures, and Mozilla.ai.

For this position, we are looking for candidates that are located and have the right to work in the UK only.

The Mozilla Foundation is seeking a People Partner to join its People & Culture Team and provide strategic and day-to-day HR support to three Mozilla Foundation subsidiaries: MZLA Technologies, home to the Thunderbird project, a free and open-source email client; Mozilla Ventures, which will invest in companies that have a strong purpose/product fit and will appeal to consumers or influence the tech industry; and Mozilla.ai, which will help open source trustworthy AI projects to find traction and commercialize. Like the Mozilla Corporation, these initiatives will be operated as independent subsidiaries of the Mozilla Foundation.

The People Partner will ensure that the three subsidiaries are supported in their growth and workforce planning. This position works with leadership to design, develop, and implement HR infrastructure to ensure the achievement of business strategic goals, using industry-specific market data to aid in decision making. They will also build on the Foundation's commitment to embedding diversity, equity and inclusion in all people-related programs, policies, and practices.

Responsibilities

Work with leadership of MZLA, Mozilla.ai and Mozilla Ventures to develop effective organizational structure and job design that drives organizational health;

Partner with leadership to build, recruit for and scale the workforce required to achieve the business strategy of each subsidiary;

Support, coach and partner with leadership in all people matters, meeting with them on a regular basis;

As a core member of the Mozilla Foundation People & Culture Team, collaborate with the HR Generalist and People Partners to create a cohesive, consistent and positive experience for all staff across the Foundation and subsidiaries;

Champion a healthy, diverse, inclusive culture as well as be a champion for the People & Culture Team; 

Support the design and delivery of employee salary structures and benefit programs;

Lead and oversee all employee lifecycle activities and processes for employees belonging to the subsidiaries;

Provide a career pathway framework for subsidiary staff and create a succession plan to ensure continuity;

Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the People & Culture Team to develop solutions, programs and policies that are suitable for the team;

Work with other members on the People & Culture Team to design, implement, and improve existing and new HR initiatives;

Support development and implementation of HR strategies, policies and practices that support Mozilla’s goals and needs; 

Manage and resolve employee relations issues;

Guide team through change management and transformation processes;

Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required;

In coordination with the Director, People & Culture, identify lessons learned and process improvements to support organizational learning and development;

Stay up to date on sector- and team-specific market trends (talent, skills, compensation and otherwise);

Lead or support ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications/experience

Experience building HR infrastructure for early stage technology, investment, nonprofits, and/or R&D companies is required;

Experience designing and implementing HR systems within a hybrid for-profit/non-profit organizational setup is highly desirable;

Experience leading innovative organizational design and scaling;

3 years of successfully performing  in an HR Consultant capacity  supporting multiple executive leaders concurrently;

Progressive experience in multiple HR roles, including 5-6 years of generalist experience;

Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build relationships across Mozilla;

Experience in the many disciplines within HR, including diversity and inclusion, performance management, compensation and benefits, talent management, employee relations etc.;

Knowledge and experience with international labor law;

Ability to task-switch, prioritize well and support multiple partners;

Ability to identify and take care of sensitive and confidential matters with a high level of discretion, tact and empathy;

Experience working with globally dispersed and diverse remote-first teams; 

Certification or degree in Human Resources.

Salary and Benefits Information

The Mozilla Foundation is dedicated to fair and equitable compensation for our staff. We aim to pay a competitive and market-based salary that takes into consideration the responsibilities and requirements of the role. We aim to offer at the midpoint of our salary ranges for the purposes of inclusivity and fairness of our offer process and ensuring internal equity. We do not ask for, or take into account, salary histories in our offer process.

The base salary ranges, along with mid-point, for this role in each of the key countries in which we employ staff is listed below. We target the 75th percentile of market pay as a salary band midpoint for all levels, with 10% either side of the midpoint to create a salary range.

UK: £46,884 - £57,302 (mid-point: £52,093)

Depending on the successful candidate’s location, we may also add in a geographic differential to this base salary that accounts for local job market weighting. This differential is applied to the above ranges depending on the successful candidate’s location. Below are some of the common cities in which we hire staff along with representative examples of salary ranges, along with mid-point, with the geographical differential applied:

Inner London: £51,103 - £62,459 (mid-point: £56,781)
