Working closely with trading, risk, and origination colleagues to help Octopus navigate the energy transition. We believe in applying technology efficiently to help decarbonise the grid. We’ve done this through transparent tariffs, turn-down projects or clever EV charging. Also, we have a growing renewable and battery portfolio!

We are looking for an energy trader to help with our activities in the UK. In this role you will work on contributing to execution of our hedging and trading strategies for our demand, renewable assets and flexibility portfolios. You will help us to source renewable energy certificates for all our customers. What you'll do Optimising trading for Octopus’ portfolio, including power and gas supply, PPAs, flexibility assets and renewable certificatesEnsure trading is executed within agreed risk limitsMonitor fundamental and technical developments in wholesale marketsEnsure trades are booked, nominated and scheduled accuratelyContribute analysis to support Octopus’ hedging strategies, pricing and risk premiaHelp and educate across the team/organisationWhat you'll needExperience in the UK/European Power and Gas markets with a focus on trading and risk managementQuantitative degree with strong statistical/mathematical skillsStrong python skills and experience with the scientific stackStrong problem solving skills in a fast-paced environmentGood communication skillsKnowledge of renewable certificates is beneficialWhy else you'll love it hereWondering what the salary for this role is?
