About the Role:  

The Orbits R&D team is responsible for flight dynamics and mission planning for Planet’s fleet of satellites. The intern will work on a mentored, but self-contained project whose solution is needed for the team. Topics may include one or more of: developing visualization tools for mission scheduling, upgrading orbit determination modules, or maneuver automation for constellation management.

This position is a part of our twelve week summer internship program that starts on Monday, June 12th 2023 and concludes on September 1st, 2023.

Investigate a given technical problem and re-create a reference scenario

Explore and develop a solution to the technical problem

Test and implement the solution

Document technical approach and solution

What You Bring:

Pursuing a BS or MS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Knowledge of control theory and orbital mechanics fundamentals

Proficient in Python

Ability to take initiative and work independently

What Makes You Stand Out:

Experience with C++, JavaScript, and Cesium

Experience working in an agile software development environment 

Experience giving technical presentations or doing technical writing

Compensation:

The US hourly rate range for this position at the commencement of employment is $35 - $40. The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location.  The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
