We’ve fallen head-over-heels with smart meters, heat pumps, solar PV and all renewable tech - which instantly reduce customers' carbon footprint and give them control over their energy use.

To strengthen our capabilities in the specification of low carbon solutions for domestic applications we are looking for an experienced Heat Pump Mechanical Designer, with the ability to create detailed and accurate heat pump system designs using data supplied from our home surveyors, who conduct heat loss assessments and capture system specification for technologies such as air source heat pumps and hot water cylinder replacements. As an experienced designer of full heat pump systems you’ll produce robust mechanical installation schematics and plans that are MCS compliant and support installation of these technologies. You’ll work with the supply chain to review, approve and challenge 3rd party specifications and solutions on behalf of our customers. Working with our Quality Assurance team to develop the internal quality management and technical processes and standards to ensure a consistent high level of service is delivered to our customers.

What you'll need Experienced in domestic building heat loss assessments, commercial buildings would be a desirable additionExperience with equipment sizing for air source heat pumps, hot water cylinders, pipework, control valves, pressurisation systems as examples and in line with industry recognised standards (CIBSE)Solid experience of survey, design & specification of domestic air source heat pump systemsMechanical background is essential but also knowledge and basic electrical competency levels is desirableConfidence and experience to review and challenge 3rd party external heat loss reports and designsMust have knowledge of domestic heating design standards and legislationsComfortable with 2D CAD for basic mechanical designWell organised and able to manage multiple projectsDevelop internal process and continuous improvement measuresPrevious experience within MCS accredited organisationEssentials & desirablesMinimum 3 years’ experience of survey, design & specification of domestic air source heat pump systemsMechanical & engineering qualifications are essential.
