About the Role:  

Planet is currently seeking a Global Supply Manager to join our team in San Francisco, CA (Remote OK, but some travel required). In this role, you will act as a focal point in communication and relationship building with suppliers and working on supply chain projects or process improvement to meet Planet’s overall goals. We are looking for a detail oriented, motivated, hard-working individual with a strong procurement background in a high-mix-low-volume environment. You will be responsible for the parts procurement for Payload (ie, telescopes, cameras, lenses, and other special projects)  that will be required for multiple programs at Planet for current spacecraft in production, as well as exciting future products scheduled for 2024 and beyond. You will own the commercial relationships with Planet assigned vendors, and will be responsible for cost negotiations, supply continuity, risk management. At Planet, the GSM sits at the intersection of our business activities and engineering communities, and will effectively balance the needs of both groups to ensure successful product launches. You will also work in concert with operations and manufacturing, supplier quality, and supply base engineers as well as Planet’s Design Teams. Together, these teams execute and scale both new and existing manufacturing processes, materials, technologies, finishes and form factors.

Impact You’ll Own:

Responsible for strategic component procurement, responsible for key performance metrics such as OKR fulfillment, cost reductions, and strategic vendor management,  contracts review and negotiation.

Work closely with the supply planners and EPMs, manage the supply to meet demand, expedite delivery with suppliers in the event of shortage, and overall own the vendor relationship from cradle to grave.

What You Bring:

Experience in onboarding and managing suppliers, heavy roadmap review and proposing new technologies and vendors to Engineering.

You will combine a working knowledge of supply chain practices, strong analytical capabilities, and business savvy.

Effective in communication, including one-on-one, small and large groups, and with peers and executives.

Ability to both think strategically and execute tactically, a persistent attention to details, and a high level of comfort in working with numbers.

Experience in dealing with cross-functional collaboration to achieve outstanding customers' service in a fast-paced environment.

Consistent track record in delivering on operational requirements while leading projects and initiatives. Sense of priority and urgency to meet deadlines from different partners.

Experience in Excel/Google sheets, and have the ability to learn technical applications quickly.

Min of 5 years of experience in a production environment, executing and delivering results to leadership.

Excellent teamwork skills and proven aptitude to partner effectively with a wide range of stakeholders (i.e., colleagues, suppliers, and internal/external customers)

The ability to flourish and produce within a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment with changing priorities

Ability to work independently, prioritize and multi-task while maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $97,600 - $160,500.  Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location.  The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
