We are looking for a flexibility lead in Germany to supercharge our internationalisation efforts. The Flexibility team at Octopus is responsible for creating and deploying next-generation smart tariffs and offers to customers around the world - we are working to maximise MW under management and use these to create value for customers. The team’s work includes Intelligent Octopus - our leading managed demand product with 60,000 devices under control and growing rapidly - and initiatives like Saving Sessions - our leading demand shift programme in homes. We need a locally based member of the global flex team and the German team, reporting to the senior leadership group, who can act as a liaison between local teams and the wider group. They will need to own and be responsible for delivering the German flex strategy, build new products and offerings that work for customers in the local market, and support the efforts of our business in Germany to accelerate energy’s transition to a flexible future. They are responsible for delivering growth for the flexibility portfolio.What you’ll do:Launch attractive flexible energy offerings for the German market, including Intelligent Octopus and new products, and drive customer growth. Work with local and global teams to set product requirements, and localise and implement in the country.Understand, qualify, and successfully monetise aggregated loads in all relevant markets and services, with an emphasis on driving market evolution in parallel Engage stakeholders, including the regulator, government and system operators, to widen market accessIdentify and secure new opportunities for flexibility across the energy system, from generation through to demandIdentify and cultivate strategic partnerships to grow Flexibility programmesPartner with marketing and acquisition teams to grow customer and assets managed by Intelligent OctopusDrive thought leadership around the energy transition and champion a consumer-centric energy systemWhat you’ll need:Good understanding of energy market rules (ideally German energy markets) and a network in the local market, experience working directly with energy markets or ancillary services is a plusHigh ownership - you take responsibility for your work and drive stuff at pace independentlyEntrepreneurial mindset - you can value and pursue highest-value opportunitiesDelivery focus - you understand and can provide evidence on how to get stuff done and work across a wide range of stakeholdersStrong and confident communication both written and verbalFluency in German and English, other European languages a plusPassion for shaping the energy transition in Germany and an ability to get stakeholders behind this missionStrong problem solving and lateral thinking skills
