Food Production Site Manager (m/f/d) at Infarm
🔭 Our mission & vision
Job Description
Food Production Site Manager, Pfungstadt
As Food Production Site Manager, you will be in charge of all operations that take place at your Infarm Growing Center (IGC) and will report directly to our Director of Food Production. Your teams will oversee our products from seed to package, ensuring only high quality vertically-farmed produce is sent out the door to our clients. On top of managing those teams, you’ll handle the development of infarmers at your IGC, P&L, health and safety, while owning all data and KPIs related to your hub. Your role will be mixed between the shop floor and data-driven office work, while you should also feel comfortable receiving clients and visitors upon occasion. We are looking for someone with experience managing a team of 20+ people within a food production or FMCG environment who can set a strong and positive working culture based on our Infarm Growing System. You’ll also be working with a diverse multidisciplinary team of crop scientists, project managers, engineers, salespeople, and more, all working to make an impact!
Responsibilities:
Manage our entire site operation, including teams in production, nursery, maintenance, FSQH and warehouse. You may also manage a smaller field team, responsible for servicing InStore farms.
Set the cultural standards at your IGC, from meeting cadence and standups to KPI review and people development.
Plan, improve or review the daily operations planning for your IGC depending on the demand and products produced.
Ensure that we go above and beyond in compliance to all our health and safety, and food safety, certifications and local regulations. Create a safety-first working environment.
Be the onsite champion of the ‘Infarm Growing System’ - our manufacturing framework covering key principles and performance measures.
Ensure data is gathered reliably and consistently to generate accurate KPI’s for site performance. Be accountable for delivering these against global targets, and able and equipped to explain performance.
Lead reporting for your site within global performance management forums. Translate company objectives into team targets for your IGC.
Own the P&L for your IGC and prepare for quarterly reviews. Own your operating budget.
Work closely with your team to ensure proper workforce planning, making sure we are adequately staffed at all times, taking daily volume variation, holidays and absences into account and sourcing temporary labour as required.
Own the hiring for your hub, while taking labour targets into consideration.
Coach and mentor a diverse team at your site and make sure that your team is engaged and motivated. Retention is key.
Ensure that all workflows and SOPs are followed and that proactive improvements are made across sites in conjunction with central teams in Operational Excellence, Industrial Engineering and Global Crop Operations, to name a few. Make sure we are driving initiatives to reduce cost and improve quality.
Hold overall responsibility for ensuring that all shipments leave on time in full to our customers.
Lead a world class production team ensuring the delivery of high-quality sustainable produce to our clients with minimal food waste.
Requirements
Proven experience managing large teams (20+) within an industrial environment, ideally food production, or otherwise FMCG or similar.
Strong written and verbal communication skills both within senior management and shop floor environments.
Experience creating Lean working environments and setting strong routines and culture on site.
Ideally some experience with food safety and healthy and safety compliance and reporting.
People management and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on coaching a large team at all levels.
Experience reading data and with digital reporting systems and softwares.
Experience owning P&L and controlling budgets.
