About the Role:  

In this role, you will be the engineering manager for the Growth Infrastructure team within the Customer Growth pillar within Planet. The Customer Growth pillar’s mission is centered around increasing the customers who get value from Planet, directly or indirectly via partners.

Impact You’ll Own:

Lead a team of talented engineers in building and managing the platform's authentication and authorization systems (AuthN & AuthZ)

Be responsible for creating a SDK to allow other teams to easily integrate their data products into the Earth Data Platform

Focus on working with partners to help them bring their data products to the Earth Data Platform’s marketplace

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver new features

Ensure that the team is utilizing best practices for software development, testing, and deployment

Lead by example and mentor the team in developing their technical and leadership skills

Oversee the migration of data infrastructure the Growth Infra team built to another team over the next year

What You Bring:

Proven cross-functional collaboration with product managers, design, data science, etc.

Diagnosing technical and collaboration roadblocks that slow down velocity

Proven experience leading and mentoring a team and elevating team culture

Experience building infrastructure/tooling at scale that gains widespread adoption

Proven asynchronous communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Experience building customer-facing applications in a service-oriented architecture

What Makes You Stand Out:

Experience in authentication or authorization (strongly desired, but not an absolute requirement)

Experience with working in growth teams in a B2B context

Experience in earth observation data or geospatial data

Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

Experience with agile development methodologies

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $136,000 - $223,000.  Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location.  The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
