About the Role:

Imperfect is looking for a Corporate Controller to manage the accounting functions of its high-growth operations. The ideal individual must be a hands-on, roll-up your sleeves type of leader and have the ability to work independently while managing a team.Responsibilities:Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including revenue recognition, accounts payable and financial reporting and consolidationsManage, monitor, and review the month-end closing process to ensure accurate and timely accounting records are maintainedMonitor and review the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statementsDevelop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with accounting principles and company policiesResponsible for the monthly reviews, quarterly reviews, year-end audits, and working with external auditorsResponsible for statutory audits and other regulatory reporting requirementsEstablish, monitor, and enforce internal controls and company policiesBuild, manage and coach the accounting team. Lead, mentor, and develop team members to become a high performing teamBe a liaison between the Accounting Department and other cross-functional teams  Lead all aspects of financial statement preparation compliance with GAAP, GL structure, financial reporting, and adequate system of accounting recordsOversee a comprehensive set of control processes, mitigate financial risk and ensure the accuracy of company recordsLead corporate tax compliance to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all government reporting and tax filings across all geographical areas in which the company operatesResearch accounting issues, prepare evaluations on problems, and recommend viable solutionsServe as the key technical accounting resource for the companyParticipate in a wide variety of projects and compile ad-hoc reports

Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance10-12 years of accounting related experience, including 5-7 in a management capacityExperience in online grocery and/or eCommerce a plusBig four or national accounting firm experience is requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience with NetSuite software a plusAdvanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPointAccounting experience to include working at a mid-sized or large, public, multinational corporation (preferred)In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including familiarity with accounting positions and related guidance provided by SEC, in areas like Consolidations, Revenue Recognition, Foreign Currency Accounting, Impairment, Capitalization of Internally Developed Software, and EquityStrong technical accounting knowledge

Details of the Position:Full-time, exempt position reporting to the Chief Financial OfficerThe position is remote, with the team centralized in the San Francisco/Bay area Salary and stock options commensurate with experienceCompetitive benefits package includes healthcare, paid vacation, 401k, and a credit towards your Imperfect Foods box!
