The proliferation of distributed energy resources (DER) has made flexibility services (also called non-wire alternatives)Â critical to enabling our decarbonization plans. Piclo helps network utilities and system operators procure flexibility to balance their grids and connect more renewable generation and electric vehicles. We are the global leader in operating these flexibility markets with top clients such as UK Power Networks, SP Energy Networks, Enel e-distribuzione, National Grid ESO and others.
Piclo is a rapidly growing team (currently over 60 people) with offices in London, Milan and New York. Piclo has backing from a portfolio of investors including Clean Growth Fund, Future Energy Ventures, Toshiba, SFV, Mott MacDonald Ventures and Green Angel Syndicate.

Who we are looking forÂ
Weâre hiring a Commercial Manager to support and serve our clients in the UK and Ireland. Youâll play a key role in developing relationships with a portfolio of clients to help them unlock value in our flexibility marketplace, Piclo Flex.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Day-to-day account management of our utility clients to ensure delivery in line with expectations and agreed service levels
Understanding of our clientsâ operational and/or regulatory priorities and its impact on their expectations on the value Piclo should deliver
Development of trusted relationships with key stakeholders based on honesty, commitment to service delivery and demonstrable track record
Work with our internal teams across sales, marketing, delivery & policy to direct specialised resources or capabilities to serve your clientsâ needs
Engagement with our Flex Service Provider (FSP) ecosystem, including recruiting, onboarding and supporting them on the Piclo Flex platformÂ
About you
Our ideal candidate meets many - but not necessarily all - of the below criteria:
You have 5-7 years relevant professional experience working in the energy sector and have a broad operational knowledge of flexibilityÂ
You have a background in account management and understand what it takes to serve clients, grow relationships and deliver value
You are an incredibly motivated and organised person. You enjoy the process of prioritising work and setting timelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
You are an excellent communicator who can build relationships with teammates from different disciplines, making sure that everyone is clear about whatâs required of them.
You have an entrepreneurial attitude and demonstrated an ability to work independently. You are resourceful, resilient, and flexible
You are based in the UK or Ireland and are willing to travel periodically for customer meetings or business development opportunities
Youâre fluent in English, even if itâs not your first language.
Also desirable:
Your account management experience includes software sales to network utilities (enterprise system or SaaS)
You have experience in scale-up environment.

Founded in 2013 by Andy, Alice and James, we are a quickly growing team of +60 with the mission to decarbonise the grid through use of our flexibility marketplace, Piclo Flex.
Piclo Flex is the leading independent marketplace that enables technologies, such as electric vehicles, to provide flexibility to electricity grids. With the rise in demand for renewables and clean technologies, our grids come under more stress and face challenges in maintaining the delicate balance of supply and demand. Piclo Flex smooths out the complex transition, delivering low-cost and resilient grids.
