How to find volunteering opportunities

Not only does volunteering give you that warm fuzzy feeling, but it can also help your job-hunting efforts. Here's how to find volunteering opportunities near you.

There are so many reasons why we love volunteering at Jobs For Good.

Not only does doing good give you that warm fuzzy feeling, but it can also help your job-hunting efforts.

Volunteering looks great on your CV, especially if you don’t have much experience and are trying to break into a new arena. You’ll also develop a range of skills that are invaluable to the workplace, like communication, compassion and teamwork.

Even if you are fairly experienced in your field, volunteering helps you stand out and shows your dedication to doing good – something that has been proven to be a key factor when hiring for impact startup founders.

There are organisations are on a mission to remove the barriers to volunteering so you can help people from the comfort of your own home, as well as getting out there and supporting your community!

Here's how to find volunteering opportunities near you

Contact organisations directly

This is what we do every quarter as part of our Confido X Jobs For Good impact promise! So far, we’ve arranged the following volunteering days ourselves...

Brighton beach clean-up

Our team took to Brighton for a (rather damp) beach cleanup. We collected a variety of plastic and waste for recycling. To organise this, we contacted Brighton council and borrowed their equipment. If you get yourself a litter picker you can do this anytime, anywhere!

Royal Parks conservation project.

We helped build and maintain the Royal Parks ' dead hedges, which provide shelter for small mammals and birds. Check out their current projects.

The Felix Project

We unloaded surplus food donations and helped organise them for redistribution to charities across London. Find out how you can get involved with The Felix Project.

Refettorio Felix

We helped serve a delicious lunch to vulnerable members of the community. The team’s chefs created the three-course meals with 100% surplus goods. Learn more about Refettorio Felix.

There are so many volunteering opportunities, both remote and out in your local community. So, what’s stopping you? Get out there and lend a hand!
